Eric Drewry is the Founder and CEO of Drewry Consulting Group. Across more than 20 years in the safety and security industry, Eric has accumulated a wealth of experience in high-value asset and personnel protection, crisis preparedness and management, and business continuity planning. Specific examples include strategic and tactical protection and logistics planning for high profile events, Presidential state visits, and multi-billion-dollar art installations and exhibitions. Eric is highly skilled in standards development and training, having recently provided technical guidance in the development of several internationally recognized standards through ASIS International, including the Workplace Violence Prevention and Intervention Standard. Eric regularly presents at national and international conferences and symposiums, including the Smithsonian Institute’s National Conference on Cultural Property Protection, on relevant topics drawing from his experience, such as active assailant prevention and response, civil disorder preparedness and response, developing and leveraging technical security intelligence for improved business operations, and collaborative workplace violence prevention and intervention program development and implementation.

Experience and Education
Eric began his career in the corporate security offices at the Kellogg Company’s World Corporate Headquarters in his hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan as a team leader for security operations. There, he led efforts to develop emergency preparedness and response plans in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Later, Eric transitioned to cultural property protection in Charlottesville, Virginia as head of safety and security operations at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. Currently, Eric has served as the Director of Protection and Group Services for the Detroit Institute of Arts since 2015.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University (Michigan). He is board certified in security management as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through ASIS International as well as a Certified Institutional Protection Manager, Level II, the highest-level certification offered by the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP). In 2021, Eric completed the Advanced Threat Assessment Academy through Gavin de Becker and Associates, a world-wide leader in threat assessment and management programs. As a certified instructor of the ALICE Institute, Eric provides the nation’s leading active shooter civilian response training.
